With Don feeling a little healthier this week, we got to work putting the finishing touches in our kitchen.
We custom built our toe kick drawers to increase our kitchen storage space a while ago. It was definitely time to stain and seal them. While our pre made KLËARVŪE Cabinets are white to brighten up a small space, we used a dark espresso color on our toekick drawers to make them disappear underneath there.
We added a wood backsplash to our countertops made from an ash tree in our back yard and then a peel and stick tile backsplash over all of the kitchen walls. Peel and stick tiles makes so much sense for a bus conversion. They are light weight, easy to install and you don't have to worry about then cracking with all the movement of the vehicle.
We had screwed our wood backsplash into the countertop from the top, so we filled those holes with wood filler and stained them with Rubio Monocoat (the same stain we used on our countertop. It was really easy to use for this little touch up making us feel really confident that this was a great choice for our countertops and will be easy to do touch ups in the future after it has been well used.
There are still a few things we need to work on the kitchen, plumbing is the big one but we are waiting for better spring temperatures to do that work. So we are moving on to next and last piece of furniture in our bus.
