First Night Sleeping in our Bus Conversion – S04E12

Over the last 2 weeks we have built our custom Murphy bed, designed and built bed side towers and built and installed our over bed cabinets.

There are just a few steps let to finish off the bed room furniture so we cut down sanded 1/2 inch birch plywood to create the face for our overhead bed cabinet.

We have been using this espresso colored stain through out the trim work in the back of the bus and wanted to continue that theme so we cut and stained our over bed cabinet doors with that espresso stain.

After a terribly hot summer last year (which is partially to blame for Don getting dehydrated and ending up in the emergency room) so made a decision to purchase am inflatable pool to keep in the yard.

After a warm and sweaty day of working in the bus the cold well water was a welcome treat. We are sure to get a lot of use out of our inflatable pool as the summer month begin.

With our bus conversion bed room furniture finally together, we couldn't resist having a sleep over in the bus.

Inflatable Pool
The inflatable pool we got is made of a durable PVC material, which is 50% thicker than most in the market and will help it last longer.

Tuft & Needle Original Mattress
We have been sleeping on our T&N King size mattress for 3 years now and we absolutely love it. We needed a queen size for our bus, it was a no-brainer for us to stick with the T&N Original Mattress with adaptive foam. With Don’s herniated disc in his lower back and my (Mela’s) reverse curve in my neck we have found this to be the most comfortable mattress we have ever had and can sleep soundly through the night.  I also move around a lot at night, but with the adaptive foam it Don doesn’t feel it or wake up everytime I roll over anymore!

Flexible Curve Template Woodworking Tool
Each segment can be adjusted and locked independently as required.

Maximum bend-ability allows for a wide array of replicable shapes and it works well to create templates for furniture/cabinets that are built into the curve of a bus/skoolie/van. It is 37" long.

  1. I really like watching the way you two treat each other. It is refreshing in todays negative political and societal environment to watch you create your new home and not get mad at each other. Not sure how you do that, but GOOD FOR YOU GUYS!
I really hope when you get it all finished that you will come through rural NE Oregon. Id love to see the bus, and Id love to take you to dinner or drinks, or both. Keep it in mind! BTW, I am not a creeper…lol.
